Listening to Ryan Auffenberg sing is like being transported on a long desert road trip. He’s described his style as “driving music,” and indeed it’s perfect for meandering along sun bleached highways and winding roads. His debut album, Marigolds, was released last June and has been featured in the CMJ Festival and on XM Radio. Marigolds possesses the simple introspection of Pete Yorn and the austerity of Sam Beam (Iron and Wine), but with a distinct California optimism.
