Originally out of Davis, and recently relocated to San Francisco, Jake Mann strings together impossibly charmed tunes. His fuzzed out indie rock is massively understated, with a sound best described as earthy. Indeed his music comes from a natural state, one filled with the dirt and debris of everyday life. Yet, it is Mann's ability to take this space and harmonize it with a croon worthy of Elvis Costello or Lou Reed that really separates him from the pack. An epitome of cool wrapped in fog and rain, Mann's music suits him and his city very well. CHARLIE SWANSON
